Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, and Queens of the Stone Age Star in Them Crooked Vultures

Music has seen its fair share of Super Groups, yet none have ever had collided with auditory aesthetics like Them Crooked Vultures. They provide their audience with three of the most prominent names in rock and roll: Dave Grohl from Nirvana and Foo Fighters, Joshua Homme from Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal, and John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin.
Although still relatively new band, only being formally announced in 2009, Them Crooked Vultures have grown a following that is sure to be epic by any standards. The band has only played four official shows in August so far, mostly in Europe and one in Chicago, Illinois.
The only simple way to describe this noise is a combination between the roughness of Queens of the Stone Age, the steady tempo of Foo Fighters, and the classic rock of Led Zeppelin. They commingle with such a power for thrill and authentic new sounds that it’s hard to contain oneself for very long. Such songs as “Nobody Loves Me And Neither Do I” are melodic, yet fast, industrial, yet smooth. Even so, hidden inside Them Crooked Vultures’ songs lies a bluesy rhythm to bob your head with.
I’m not going to say both young and old are going to enjoy this, but I am going to say Them Crooked Vultures is a force to be reckoned with. If you are a fan of Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death metal, Kyruss, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, or even Nirvana, I strongly urge you check out Them Crooked Vultures.
A few of the songs they played at the shows include:
- Elephants
- New Fang
- Scumbag Blues
- Dead End Friends
- Bandoliers
- Mind Eraser
- Gunman
- Daffodils
- Interlude w/ Ludes
- Caligulove
- Warsaw
- Nobody Loves Me and Neither Do I
