If you have ever watched ABC's critically acclaimed Grey's Anatomy, you may notice some of the music you hear may sound like a soothing, yet upbeat blend of tones. This is the work of Staten Island native, Ingrid Michaelson. Michaelson was born on December 8, 1979 to parents Carl Michaelson and Elizabeth Egbert. Growing up in an artistic household, helped spark Ingrid into the arts herself. At age four Michaelson took up piano, and trained until three years later at the age of seven, where she stopped playing at Manhattan's Third Street Music School. She continued studying piano for many more years at the Jewish Community Center of S.I.'s Dorothy Delson Kuhn Music Institute. While there Michealson met vocal coach Elizabeth McCullough. Together they worked throughout Michaelson's high school career training her voice.

Years later after graduating high school Michaelson graduated with a theatre degree from Binghamton University. Soon after in 2008, she opened for Jason Mraz on his Europe tour which included, Sweden, Denmark, the UK, the Netherlands, France and many others.

As well as opening for big celebrities, Ingrid has many songs featured in prime time TV shows such as Grey's Anatomy, One Tree Hill, Kyle XY, and Scrubs. Michaelson has made appearances on Good Morning America, Live With Regis and Kelly, and many more. Her top chart singles include "The Way I Am" (2007), "Be OK" (2008 ), and "Maybe" (2009).
