Looking for Alibrandi

Looking for Alibrandi Cover of Looking for Alibrandi

Josephine Alibrandi is a 17 year old girl. She's begun her last year of high school at St Martha's, which means the HSC (Higher School Certificate). She never knew her father, nor did she ever want to meet him. But one hot day after school at Nonna's, Michael Andretti comes to the house, and suddenly Josie is faced with the terrifying truth - she has a father, who is standing right in front of her.

During the novel, a variety of events and emotions take place. Josie and her father have a love hate relationship, but love is always there on the inside when the 'hate' side takes place. This is the same for Jacob Coote - her boyfriend - whom she argues with time and time again, but as usual, it's sorted out by the lovingness and care she has for him. Jacob gets wound up easily - for example, when Josie wants to see a movie with John Barton for school, but of course, Jacob finds out and becomes jealous, but sitting on a bus stop crying, Jacob comes back to her and they comfort each other, back to the caring relationship they know they have.

John Barton was another change is Josephine's final school year. Her and John were close, closer than you may think, and she knew that something was wrong. Just one night she thought it was all alright, and next thing she knew, John Barton was gone forever.

Most importantly, she found out the truth. The truth about Nonna, the truth about her mother, and the truth about herself.

"You know, a wonderful thing happened to me when I reflected back on my year. "One day" came. Because I finally understood." - Josephine Alibrandi.
