Evony: A Virtual Success

Evony: A Virtual Success Evony

Since May 2009 a new sensation has sprung up all across the internet. Evony, an online game where players can build their own cities and create armies to conquer other cities and lands. When Evony first came onto the internet, it was practically unknown, but over the past few months millions of player have joined and a person can't go to a website without seeing an advertisement for this game. And the best part it's free to join!

The game starts with a player getting their first city. To help them out Evony supplies beginner packages which offer anything from medals to items that increase their production.

Players then can begin building their cities. They can add cottages and many other buildings inside their city to make it stronger.

Outside the town players are provided with resource fields which increase their production of lumber, stone, food, and iron. These items in return are what a player needs to build up their city, do research, and build an army. Evony also offers each player an option to join an alliance. In an alliance players find other people who can help them in the game, and are just fun to talk to.

There aren't too many graphics in this game, but it's the perfect game for someone who doesn't want to sit at their computer 24/7. The game runs in real time, and after a while some research and buildings can take up to 200+ hours to finish. This means a player can leave their account sitting for days without checking it.

As stated earlier, Evony is free to join and play. Players however can choose to spend money to buy in game cents. These cents can be used to purchase items within the game. But unlike a lot of games, THIS IS NOT NECESSARY. A player can get very far and become very powerful within the game without spending a single dollar of their own money.

A way Evony makes this possible is by supplying a daily gift of an amulet. This amulet is used to spin the prize wheel in the game giving players a lot of chances to get items without spending a single sent on the game.

Overall, I give this game a 4 star rating. It's not time-consuming and very fun to play, but I personally think it could have more graphics. This, however, is only stage one of the game so who knows what awaits for the future of Evony?
