Lords Of Dogtown

Lords Of Dogtown Lords Of Dogtown cover.

The zephyr boys were legendary. The all made it big as skateboarders. They all came from hardship and stayed loyal to those they trusted at least until the idea of money came into the picture. The three main z boys all came from different ways of life all looking to reinvent a sport and out it on the map. Jay( Hirsch) was only looking to help his mom pay the rent and make sure that she does not have to go though any hard times. Tony Alva (Victor Rasuk) was just trying to make a living and be someone that he could be proud of. Stacy Peralta (John Robinson) was basically just a simple kid that was following his friends but happened to have talent where skateboarding is concerned. The three boys along with a few others were brought together by Skip Engblom ( Heath Ledger). Skip was trying to give these kids a shot at what they loved and a chance to fulfill their dreams. He gave them that and in the end they all went on to bigger and better things but Skip never held it against them.

Emile Hirsch broke through with this film. He starred as the wild and out of this world Jay Adams. A man who was good at skateboarding but began to mix with the wrong crowd and had a little bit of an attitude problem sometimes. Emile did an awesome job carrying the load of this character and making everyone see the hardships of trying to make something of yourself. Emile is awesome, does some good skateboarding tricks and skates his way into an awesome roll with some awesome critical acclaim.

First off I would like to say Rest in Peace Heath Ledger. Secondly I would like to say what an awesome actor you were. Heath had so many awesome roles from the Order, The brothers Grimm, Casanova and Brokeback mountain. Heath was well known and had some awesome talents. He was an awesome man to have known in real life. In Lords of Dogtown he plays Skip Engblom the man who starts the legendary Z-Boys a group of young teens who went on to become some of the most well known skateboarders of all time. Heath does a good job capturing the know holds barred, everything goes attitude of Skip. Heath does a good job of playing the business man struggling to get some cash while trying to keep his boys from bailing on him.

Lords of Dogtown combines the struggles of life with the struggles of trying to make something of yourself. The Z-boys dealt with life on the streets and girls and the temptations of money and how it can ultimately decide who you do business with and who supports you in your efforts. Lords of Dogtown really shows how the sport of skateboarding was built and how it got to where it is now. Skateboarding is an ever growing sport and has become one of the most popular sports since the late seventies until now. Dogtown shows the true value of friends and family and what you will do to bail them out of hard spot. It also shows how quickly friends can disown one another but when it comes down to it they will always remain friends.

Lords of Dogtown is awesome and rich in the struggles of life and how going from nothing to something does not always make you truly happy. You have to find it within yourself to truly become happy.
